Sneak Peek: Louis, Krista & Siri
And the end of May, I headed out to do a location photo shoot for Louis, Krista & Siri. We had a lot of fun around the house & at the park - and made it back just before the rain started! (and boy, did it pour!) Siri did a great job...well, so did Krista & Louis, but mostly Siri. :c)

Sneak Peek: Derek & Katie got married!
After taking Derek & Katie's engagement photos last October, I couldn't believe it was already time for their wedding! They were married at the beautiful Water Street Inn in Stillwater, MN. It may have been rainy, but there were amazing opportunities for photos inside the inn and Katie and Derek even braved the outdoors - before it had dried out! Their ceremony was emotional and, adorably, Katie couldn't stop telling everyone she was married afterward.
Katie & Derek - your ceremony and reception were beautiful! Thank you for letting Paul & I be a part of your day. I hope you're having a great time in Vegas!

Sitting on the Hard Drive
Ah, the good ol' days... does anyone remember back in the day? (which, coincidentally, was a Wednesday -thank you Dane Cook) Back when there were these weird canisters and you had to put them inside your camera? And the back of your camera was empty...and you couldn't even see your pictures right away! You had to drop the film off at the store and go back later to pick up prints. Wow, that was a long time ago...
Now everyone has a digital camera. In some ways, it's great. But where do our photos end up now? Precious memories, locked away on a hard drive. Seriously, how often do you print photos? And of the ones you print, how many do you proudly display for your visitors' (and your own) pleasure? I walk through my house and I can't believe how many of my walls are empty. We finally ordered a special one from our last cruise and I can't help but stare at it whenever I'm in the room. What were we thinking, leaving that wall "blank"??
There are so many options! You can get regular old 4x6 prints...great for looking at & sharing, not so great for displaying. I love big prints. Big, beautiful, leave-you-breathless. Even an 8x10 looks great framed on the wall - with or without a mat. (I apologize for the quality of these snapshots!)
My print lab, Bay Photo, also offers some really cool options. One is MetalPrints - a print that is actually printed directly on metal! Not only do they look really neat, you can also put them outside because they're weatherproof.
Now, the SPECIAL print we got...also from Bay Photo, but a ThinWrap. This photo is printed on canvas (which is also offered rolled or on a regular wooden frame) and wrapped around a thin frame. We have it on mounting blocks so it stands out a bit from the wall. I love it!
So really...I urge you to print your pictures. Put them up on the wall. Print them at home. Take them to Target or Walgreens. Whatever it takes - show off your memories!

Photography helps people
Last time I posted, I talked about The Littlest Heroes Project. Although this photography organization is one that I am a part of now, there are a few other great ones that I would love to be a part of in the future. The short list...
- Wish Upon A Wedding provides weddings across the US for individuals facing life-threatening illness. (Not just photography, but tons of services)
- Operation: Love ReUnited (TM) offers special sessions with a patriotic edge during their enlistment, focusing on deployments–before and more importantly, after, at their reunion when the deployment has terminated and the soldier is safely home–usually in an airport. (This one hits a little close to home!)
- Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep is an organization I'd love to be a part of, but I'm not sure that I could do it. The NILMDTS mission statement is to introduce remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with the gift of professional portraiture. With a network of more than 7,000 volunteer photographers in the United States and 25 countries, NILMDTS is hugely successful and helps aid parents' healing and honor their child.

Inspiration Through Art is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008 by Felicia Reinhard. It is made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nation's Littlest Heroes - those children who are battling a serious illness or life-altering disability. is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young people to give back, and make a difference through the beauty of art. We are artists with a passion for giving and inspiring others. Through our own artistic talents we are able to come together as one, to let children around the world know that they are loved, despite the challenges they face everyday.

Sneak Peek: Nicole & Jake E-Pics
A beautiful Sunday... sunshine, with just enough clouds... warm for April in Wisconsin... a perfect day to take Nicole & Jake's engagement portraits!
Nicole and I have been friends for a long time. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it through grad school if she weren't there! :c) It had been a long time since I'd seen her though, and this was the first time we would meet her fiancé, Jake.
After doing a few pictures in my "studio" (aka living room), we headed to Willow River State Park, near Hudson, WI. The location was already decided - Willow Falls. The question is how we would get there, because we couldn't park nearby. With choices of .3 miles, 1 mile, or 3 miles, we chose to walk 1 mile each way. It was gorgeous and the waterfall was even bigger & more beautiful than I remembered!
It was a great photo-walk with great friends. Paul & I felt like we'd known Jake just as long as we'd known Nicole! I hope you guys had as much fun as we did and I can't wait for your wedding in July!!

Birthday at the Bowling Alley
Wow, I can't believe Alonzo is already 13! He's my youngest brother...so that means all of my other brothers are even older (pointing out the obvious)...and I'm even OLDER! :c)
We spent the evening at the bowling alley, with pizza and cupcakes. It was lots of fun and Alonzo really liked it! Happy Birthday Alonzo!
Nick helped Alonzo learn how to bowl...
...But he was doing it alone by the end of the night!
His favorite thing to do though, was to step over the line to make the buzzer go off. He thought it was hilarious!
Reactions were the best thing to take photos of.
